Description

Da Hong Pao (大红袍), also known as the ‘Big Red Robe’, is a type of Oolong Tea, originated from the Wuyi Mountains. It is known as one of the most expensive teas in the world where most of its trees are heavily guarded by the military. Compared to Tie Guan Yin which is also an Oolong Tea, Da Hong Pao tea leaves are curly and long, and are more oxidised and heavier roasted. Da Hong Pao gives a warm roasted aroma with a delightful floral flavour and provides a mellow and thick taste with slight floral sweetness.

Net Weight: 100g (Loose Tea Leaves)
Type of Tea: Oolong Tea

Brewing Methods
There are 2 ways to brew a perfect cup of Da Hong Pao. For those who are short of time, brewing Da Hong Pao in a normal pot or tea infuser would do. For those who have the extra time, the best way to enjoy Da Hong Pao is with the Gongfu Cha Brewing Method as it provides stronger, richer, and greater taste for such a Premium Grade Tea.

Gung Fu Cha Preparations:

  1. Warm a small-sized teapot with boiling water
  2. Place 2 tsp(7g) of Da Hong Pao tea leaves into the Gaiwan / Teapot and add fresh boiling water
  3. Leave it for 3 minute to enrich the aroma and refine the taste
  4. Remove the first brew of Da Hong Pao, brew it for the second time and leave it for 3 minutes
  5. Pour the freshly brewed Da Hong Pao into the Tea Pitcher to even out the tea
  6. Da Hong Pao is brewed and ready to be served
  7. Repeat the brewing steps for 3-4 times until Da Hong Pao’s aroma becomes lighter
